Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal want a rematch

It was a Welterweight fight for a non-existent “Baddest Mother Fucker Belt” at UFC 244 last night, and although a winner walked out of the ring, both competitors aren’t too keen on the result. Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal squared up in the main event of the night, with Diaz sustaining a cut above his eye early into the fight. He kept it moving, though, despite Masvidal dominating the first three rounds. Then, in a decision no one is happy with, a representative of the New York State Athletic Commission stopped the match between the third and fourth rounds due to the injury; and Masvidal was given the win with a TKO.

Both men are absolute animals in the ring and are already gearing up for a rematch.

Masvidal tells ESPN: “I told Nate right now, let’s run it back. UFC, make it happen. Let’s run it back. I don’t like to leave the ring like this with my opponent conscious. There’s only one way to do it, and that’s to baptize them, and I didn’t get to baptize Nate, so we’re going to run it back.”

While Diaz tells MMAmania: “Hopefully Masvidal takes the rematch. I be taking all the rematches, you know what I’m saying? Because I’m like I won, and I’ll do it again. That’s what I hope we’ll make happen here and I hope everybody gets on the same page and we work together.”

Dana White, however, has no immediate plans for the rematch.

Nate Diaz is now 20-12. Jorge Masvidal is 35-13. Diaz holds the most Fight of the Night bonuses in UFC history (with eight), and Masvidal holds the record for the fastest knockout in UFC history for his 239 knockout of Ben Askren at UFC 239.
