John Cena, Charlotte Flair, Bret Hart, Becky Lynch, Vince McMahon, Shawn Michaels, Randy Orton, Jake the Snake, Trish Stratus, The Undertaker… All talented and charismatic superstars that have defined multiple generations during the reign of WWE on television. These are all names, of course, who are also proud recipients of their own vinyl pop figures courtesy of the billion-dollar Funko company. And then, well, there’s Elias.
He debuted on WWE’s NXT brand in 2014 before moving up to the main roster in 2017, which resulted in the professional wrestler winning an award for “Breakout Superstar of the Year” in 2018. Besides a feud with Bobby Lashley and winning the joke 24/7 Champion title four times, Elias hasn’t done much in the company; unless you count his debut album, “Walk with Elias,” which debuted at #17 on the Independent Albums chart in July of 2018.
While it looks like WWE is pushing to get every noteworthy member of its roster to have their own Funko Pop figure – inaugural Women’s Tag Team Champion Bayley even has one – it’s still questionable why Elias received his own Funko release earlier this Fall without anything going on with his character. Surely Natalya is more deserving of her own figure, but maybe this is a sign that Elias has a big push coming, and WWE wants to make sure he has merchandise available when that time comes.
