He’s 56-years-old, and WWE Hall of Famer Billy Gunn stepped back into the ring as a competitor during last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite. It happened at the end of the Dynamite Dozen 12-Man Battle Royale to determine who gets to face off next week for the Dynamite Diamond Ring. Billy Gunn was the final entrant in the royale, and he eliminated Jimmy Havoc and Marko Stunt before being thrown over the rope by Adam Page. Gunn currently serves as a producer for the company and made his AEW in-ring debut during May’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view.
Billy Gunn is most known for his time with WWE from 1993 to 2004 and again from 2012 to 2015. In that time, he achieved numerous accomplishments and held a number of titles including WWF Hardcore Champion, WWF Intercontinental Champion, Tag Team Champion, World Tag Team Champion and King of the Ring. Earlier this year, he made several non-combative appearances with WWE in celebration of his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of D-Generation X. WWE has yet to comment on his contract with AEW.
It’ll be interesting to see if Billy Gunn makes another wrestling move in the coming months. Sometimes the best way to show the new blood how it’s done is to get in the ring yourself! Kick ass, Billy!
